About Marianne

Marianne is a PhD candidate in geography. She holds a masters in geography and a bachelors degree with honors in psychology from UQAM. Her doctoral research centers fire as a character she follows as a research companion. Marianne’s ethnography explores fire enactment in the Canadian context. She is a member of the Montreal Waterways collective. With colleagues, she is also busy investigating floodings, insurance landscapes and the new floodplain map controversies. Marianne is currently (2025-26) the coordinator of the Concordia Ethnography Lab.
