About Beth

I am a cultural anthropologist with a Ph.D. in Anthropology (University of New Mexico, 1999). For much of my career, I taught at California State University, Los Angeles and my research focused on immigration-related research. For the last 5 years, I have worked to understand the interface of state violence, popular culture, and technology, in particular the culture of surveillance and the use of home/personal surveillance technologies. I currently teach in the University of California Washington Program in the District of Colombia.
